In the vicinity of the TU Berlin, there are many different restaurants from fast food to gourmet restaurants. The Mensa of the TU Berlin also offers plenty of opportunities for lunch at moderate prizes. A re-chargeable mensa card can be purchased for 10 € (including 1,50 € refundable deposit) in the Mensa building during the conference. A list of nearby restaurants is available at the registration desk. Various cafeterias are located in the main building (H), the mathematics building (MA), the physics building (EW) and the architecture building (A).

Coffee, tea, and beverages are served during all breaks in the main building (H), the physics building (EW, previously PN), and the mathematics building (MA).

Cashless payment using the MensaCard

You can use the MensaCard for cashless payment in all our refectories and cafeterias. This saves both you and us the tiresome search for coins or small change, reduces waiting times at the tills and helps you to start enjoying your meal quicker.
In the large refectories, payment can only be made by MensaCard. These refectories have respective signs posted on the entrance doors.
There are recharging machines in the refectory foyers. At these machines, you can use bank notes to recharge your MensaCard up to an amount of € 50 or check your credit. You will get the € 1.55 deposit back when you return the card.
When the card is issued, you only need to present your study or service pass. Data from these documents will not be recorded in the IT system or on the MensaCard itself, however.

How is the MensaCard recharged?

Recharging is carried out at the recharging machines provided. The card can be recharged by inserting € 5, € 10, € 20 or € 50 denomination bank notes. The amount is displayed on the screen. After you have inserted the money, hold the card directly in front of the card reader and wait until the new credit is displayed. The card is then recharged.

How can I tell how much credit is on the card?

Hold the card in front of the card reader on a recharging machine. The credit amount is displayed on the screen. Please check how much credit you have on your MensaCard before choosing your food.

How do I pay with the card?

Place the card on the reading area of the card reader at the till. The credit amount appears at the top of the display. This amount to be debited is shown at the bottom of the display. After the debit amount shown at the bottom has been subtracted, the new credit amount still on the card is displayed at the top.

What happens if the MensaCard gets lost?

If you have lost your MensaCard and can tell us the card number, we can have this card disabled. To prevent this service being misused, we record the complete address on the basis of your personal ID card. The loss has to be reported to us in writing. The credit amount on the lost card is then recharged to a new card. The procedure connected with the loss of a MensaCard is only carried out in the large refectories.

DPG-Bistro

Next to the company exhibition the DPG Bistro is located in the "Alte Mensa" (Old TU Mensa). There you may obtain coffee, tea and beverages for free as well as snacks that you will get by presentation of the food voucher. You will receive the voucher with your conference card at the conference office. Please make use of this offering and also visit the exhibition stands.
